Meloxicam Syrup Dosage
For Dogs
- First Dose (Loading Dose): 0.2 mg per kg (0.09 mg per lb) once
- Maintenance Dose: 0.1 mg per kg (0.045 mg per lb) once daily
For Cats
- First Dose: 0.1 mg per kg (0.045 mg per lb) once
- Maintenance Dose: 0.05 mg per kg (0.023 mg per lb) once daily
Uses of Meloxicam (Petoxicam) in Dogs and Cats
Meloxicam (also sold as Petoxicam) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used in veterinary medicine to manage pain, inflammation, and fever in pets.

- Osteoarthritis & Joint Pain – Helps reduce pain and stiffness in dogs with arthritis.
- Post-Surgical Pain Relief – Used after surgeries like spaying, neutering, and orthopedic procedures.
- Musculoskeletal Disorders – Treats pain from conditions like hip dysplasia and intervertebral disc disease (IVDD).
- Injuries & Trauma – Helps manage pain from sprains, fractures, or wounds.
- Fever Reduction – Can lower high fever in dogs.

⚠ Cats are more sensitive to NSAIDs, so meloxicam should be used with extreme caution and only under veterinary supervision.
