Meloxicam Syrup Dosage

For Dogs

• First Dose (Loading Dose): 0.2 mg per kg (0.09 mg per lb) once
• Maintenance Dose: 0.1 mg per kg (0.045 mg per lb) once daily

For Cats

• First Dose: 0.1 mg per kg (0.045 mg per lb) once
• Maintenance Dose: 0.05 mg per kg (0.023 mg per lb) once daily

Uses of Meloxicam (Petoxicam) in Dogs and Cats

Meloxicam (also sold as Petoxicam) is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used in veterinary medicine to manage pain, inflammation, and fever in pets.

✅ Uses in Dogs

1. Osteoarthritis & Joint Pain – Helps reduce pain and stiffness in dogs with arthritis.
2. Post-Surgical Pain Relief – Used after surgeries like spaying, neutering, and orthopedic procedures.
3. Musculoskeletal Disorders – Treats pain from conditions like hip dysplasia and intervertebral disc disease (IVDD).
4. Injuries & Trauma – Helps manage pain from sprains, fractures, or wounds.
5. Fever Reduction – Can lower high fever in dogs.

1. Post-Surgical Pain Management – Approved for short-term pain relief after surgery.
